Data protection

We care deeply about data protection.

This page contains important information about how we protect your personal data.

What is automatically stored by our hosting provider
Hosting provider and data storage location: cyon GmbH, Brunngässlein 12, 4052 Basel, Switzerland

The provider of the website automatically collects and stores information in server log files. These are then automatically transmitted to us by your browser. Access data includes:

  • The name of the website accessed
  • The date and time of access
  • The volume of data transferred
  • Notification of successful access
  • The browser type and version, the user’s operating system
  • The referrer URL (the URL that referred the user to our website, e.g. a Google search)
  • The IP address and the provider making the request.

The provider only uses the log data for statistical evaluations to assist with operating, securing and optimising the offer. However, the provider reserves the right to check the log data retrospectively if there are specific indications – and, in turn, a legitimate suspicion – of unlawful use.

What happens when you write an email
Email provider and data storage location: cyon GmbH, Brunngässlein 12, 4052 Basel, Switzerland
If you contact us by email, your message will be forwarded to the provider of our email hosting account. Email hosting is a type of hosting service that focuses specifically on providing email-related functionality. This allows individuals, companies and organisations to create and manage email accounts associated with their domain name (e.g. info@uze-apartments.memoserver.ch). Email hosting providers usually offer email services with features such as spam filtering, virus protection, webmail access and the ability to use email clients such as Outlook or Thunderbird. This type of hosting can either be part of a larger hosting package, such as web hosting or domain hosting, or offered as a standalone service. It is a convenient solution for those who need a professional email service that uses their own domain name. Messages are stored on an individual basis. Normally, we archive your messages so we can trace previous enquiries, e.g. for questions about completed orders, subsequent orders, complaints or similar. The specifications for operating mail hosting stipulate which data must be collected and stored for security reasons. These specifications are regulated with the operator in line with the data processing commissioned. Further details can be found on the email hosting provider’s website:
https://www.cyon.ch/legal/datenschutzerklaerung
https://www.cyon.ch/legal/agb

How we handle personal data
Personal data is information that can be used to identify a person, i.e. information that can be traced back to a particular individual. This includes their name, email address or telephone number. However, data about preferences, hobbies, memberships or websites viewed is also classed as personal data. Personal data will only be collected, used and disclosed by the provider if this is permitted by law or if users consent to the data being collected.

How we protect your personal data
We have taken security measures – on both a technical and an organisational level – to protect your personal data from loss, destruction, manipulation and unauthorised access. Our security measures are continuously reviewed and optimised to account for technological developments.
Your personal data is transmitted to us when you use a service on our website. We encrypt this data using SSL (Secure Sockets Layer) technology to ensure that this data does not fall into the wrong hands. SSL is currently the most commonly used and secure data transmission method on the internet.
How SSL works
The SSL (Secure Sockets Layer) method protects data that a customer sends to a company’s server via the internet. SSL provides threefold protection:

  • It encrypts any input you transmit.
  • It ensures that the form is only sent back to the server from which it was opened.
  • It checks whether the data reaches the recipient unchanged and in full.

If you see a small (usually green) padlock on your screen at the bottom left of your browser’s status bar, this means SSL is being used.

What we store when a user makes an enquiry
When a user contacts us via our contact form, their details are stored for the purpose of processing the enquiry and in the event that follow-up questions arise. We will not disclose this data without your consent. Enquiries are automatically deleted from the CMS after one year.
The data is stored in the same hosting storage as mentioned under ‘What is automatically stored by our hosting provider’ above.

What the newsletter data is used for
Newsletter operator: Mailjet GmbH,4 rue Jules Lefebvre, 75009 Paris, France
Data storage location: Google Cloud Platform in Frankfurt (Germany) and Saint-Ghislain (Belgium)

If you would like to receive the newsletter offered on the website, we require an email address from you as well as information that allows us to verify that you are the owner of the email address provided and that you agree to receive the newsletter. No further data is collected. We exclusively use this data for sending the information requested and do not disclose it to third parties. You can revoke your consent to the storage of the data and of the email address, as well as to the use of the same for sending the newsletter, at any time.
Further information on data protection can be found on the operator’s website:

Integration of third-party services and content
Third-party content, such as videos from YouTube, maps from Google Maps, RSS feeds or graphics from other websites, may be integrated within this online offer. This always presupposes that the providers of this content (hereinafter referred to as ‘third-party providers’) can see users’ IP addresses. Without the IP address, they would not be able to send the content to the browser of the user in question. The IP address is therefore required so that this content can be displayed. We endeavour to only use content from providers who use the IP address solely to deliver this content. However, we cannot influence whether the third-party providers store the IP address, e.g. for statistical purposes. If we are aware of this, we will notify users of it.
